Published: 30 September 2024

Members of the Parish Council were delighted to attend the annual Village of the Year awards organised by the Hampshire Association of the Local Councils and to be recognised as the winner of the Best Small Village for 2024.

The judges, who came to visit in July, commented on how the Parish Council has worked hard to improve the safety, well-being and quality of life for the people of the village. They noted the road safety campaign locating speed indicator device in the parish along with initiatives to tackle climate change, setting up a community fund from income generated from our solar farms which has been used to improve our footpaths and funding upgrades to the facilities at the Village Hall. They also recognised the efforts to create one community by bringing people together for a wide range of local events including the Christmas party and the launch of the community choir. The Parish Council was also praised for being the first in their District to have their second Neighbourhood Plan adopted earlier this year.

Winchfield Parish Council would also like to express its congratulations to our neighbours at Elvetham Heath who were crowned as the overall winner of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Village of the year 2024.
