Winchfield Greening Campaign

Winchfield Parish Council is working with The Greening Campaign to tackle climate change at a community level.

There are lots of projects going on in the Village as part of the Winchfield Greening Campaign, all designed to help tackle climate change. There is a role for everyone and if you would like to be involved please get in touch. The projects are all supported by experts via The Greening Campaign which is a not for profit organisation that supports local action.

Events taking place:

Thermal imaging of homes

Volunteers have been taking pictures of homes in the Village with a special camera designed to show where heat is leaking from properties. This project has now finished for the year as it can only be done in very cold weather. If you have had your images taken and would like help with interpreting these images please get in touch. If you would like to put forward your home for imaging in winter 2025/26 or would be willing to volunteer to help take the images please get in touch.

Recycling

A toy swap was held on 2 February to help encourage young people to recycle. There will be a charity fashion show event and clothes swap on 12 May.

Biodiversity

A summer mapping walk will take place on 7 June where residents will be invited to walk through the Village and identify areas that are already valuable habitats for wildlife. Following the walk work will be carried out on a plan to try to invite more nature into the Village. This could be the creation of new habitats or improvements to existing ones. It might involve the cultivation of some verges or the establishment of a community orchard. This project is supported by experts from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
